Too Many Fletchers (2024)

a part-murder mystery, part-escape room, part-larp bachelorette event

Too Many Fletchers is a completely custom, designed-from-the-ground-up murder mystery larp with escape room elements inspired by Murder, She Wrote. In it, ten players and one facilitator took on the role of amateur detective Jessica Fletcher, each of them embodying a Fletcher from a different alternate universe at different moments in her career. Each of them had unique strengths and abilities to draw on based on where they were at in their lives.

A murder of a sort was about to take place, but who was the victim and what were the means? Who had invited them and why had they chosen to turn up?

By finding clues hidden throughout the playspace and solving puzzles, the Fletchers discovered that they were, in fact, being manipulated. They were trapped in a virtual space where their data was being used to train an AI that would use them to write a new season of Murder, She Wrote. A murder was indeed about to be committed — on the legacy of this beloved show! So, the players were faced with a choice. Should they poison the data by poisoning themselves and protect Angela Lansbury’s legacy of caring for human actors and creators? Or should they make peace with their roles and give the performance of a lifetime?

Featuring creative problem-solving, five different kinds of interconnected puzzles, hidden objects, subterfuge, improvisation, costume changes, and delightfully themed sugar cookies, this bachelorette party is an example of what a unique, custom interactive event can look like when you let this designer cut loose with even a modest budget.

This interactive piece was designed for Allison Kyran Cole’s bachelorette party and took place in August 2024.
